It's
a bit strange to call today's convention
natural
jumps, so you
might not want to call
this a convention. Well, then, today's
advice
is not to use a convention for a 3 or 3 jump
response to
1NT.
Reserve the 3 and 3 bids
as natural calls, with hands you
don't
want to
transfer.
Most
of the tournament world today use
transfers over 1NT, so
South
will become
declarer and West will lead the queen of clubs.
After
three club tricks, East takes the ace of
spades and leads
a fourth
club to promote a
trump trick for partner - down two. But
playing
natural jumps, North, with a hand that screams
for declaring
(with
all those kings), will jump to
3 and play 4 from his side.
North
will take
11 tricks after any lead - a four-trick difference!
