One
of the most popular and simplest conventions
is two-way
checkback. After a 1NT rebid, 2 is
game-invitational Stayman
and 2 is game-forcing.
This
convention is very similar to 2-way Stayman
over a 1NT
opening.
The only difference is that opener
shows four cards in a
major or
three-card support for
responder's first suit.
We
like 2 not only as game-forcing, but as a slam try.
You
can start
with 2 and jump to game on most hands,
if only game is in
the
picture.
In
the feature hand, opener would rebid a decent five-card
club
suit
over 2 if he had one, for example:
Q
x x
Q
x x
K
x
A
Q x x x
Opener
would rebid 3 on his third turn and the fine 6
slam would
be reached.
