You open 1NT (15+ - 18-) and partner responds 2, Stayman.

You rebid 2
and partner next bids 2. What is your next call?

Stayman

This convention is played universally. Over the opening 1NT, responder bids 2 to ask for a four-card major. When opener doesn't have one, he rebids 2. What does responder's next bid mean?

What does responder show if he rebids 2 or 2? There are three ways to play these rebids!

A. Forcing, 5-card suit (old-fashioned, almost no tournament players use this method anymore).

B. Invitational but not forcing, 5-card suit (usually with 4 cards in the other major as well; we vote for this method)

C. Weak, and 2 shows both majors, perhaps 4-4! (This method is called "garbage Stayman.")

Using method B, responder invites game with
2
; opener, with golden major-suit cards, raises to game.
