After 3 Stayman, responder bids the other major as a
slam try in opener's major.

Since responder would transfer with a 5+ card major
(unless he also held a 4-card major), the bid of the
other major has no meaning. For many years, top
tournament partnerships have used the bid as an
artificial slam try, agreeing the first major as trumps.

It can also be used simply to set up Keycard
Blackwood. For example, an immediate jump to 4NT
by responder can be natural and quantitative (without
a trump fit), while stopping first to bid the other major
(which agrees on the trump suit) and then bidding 4NT
is Keycard Blackwood.

Advanced version: Some use 4 as the slam try in
spades over 3; they bid 4 or 4 to show a long
minor suit (4=clubs and 4=diamonds).
