If you use Drury, you must respond 1NT on many hands
where you don't want to be declarer in notrump. Here,
South would like to bid a natural 2 over 1, and the
auction continues to 3NT, played by North with the
hearts protected.

If you play 1M-2M as constructive (showing a good
raise), you can give up Drury. The only drawback is
that you must start with 1NT with weaker hands
containing support for partner's major.

An alternative is to reverse the method. In this
system, 1M-2M shows a weak raise, and you start
with 1NT with a Drury type of hand, planning to jump
to 3 of the major if partner rebids 2 of a minor.
