Partner's
6 sounds
like a second suit with at least
second-round
control of hearts. Does he have first-round
control of hearts?
Probably, otherwise why did he not make
a simple 6 bid.
Unless he
has a hole in the spade suit
with KQJTx on the side in diamonds
and
is offering another
spot. In any case, you decide this is too obscure
-- probably
Fellini's fault -- and since you have denied a heart
control,
it's safe to cuebid 6 as
a general try for seven.
Pietro
accepts! But now South doubles. This looks bad. It
appears
that North has made a psychic 1 opening
and it
sounds like South has
a trump trick. The following hand
appears before you in a haze
(strange music in the
background):
K
Q x x x x x
A
K
Q J 10 x
--
If
South has four spades to the J-10, seven spades is
doomed,
but
seven notrump is there for the taking. Should
you rescue to 7NT or
let partner suffer in seven spades? |
