My
partner, Charlie Weed, bid 4, and we ended in 5
making
five. At
the other table, South bid 3NT and went
one down after a
diamond lead.
I
must admit that I'd probably bid 3NT with Charlie's
hand, because
of all the queens and jacks, so I was
lucky that Charlie
was sitting
there. He figured if I
was moving away from 3NT into a minor,
missing
four honors in the suit, I must hold a very distributional
hand.
He
felt it was his duty to raise and there we were
in the best
spot.
Today's
tip is: When partner surpises you by bidding
your
best suit,
it's usually a good idea to raise him. |
