Opening
lead: 2
Play
the 8 when declarer leads the queen on the
first round. Declarer
may think you have the 10-8
doubleton and next play
the jack. If he does this,
you will score two spade tricks.
If
you win the queen with the king, declarer will
next cash the
ace and finesse your 10. If you duck
the spade by playing
the 4, declarer has no option
but to play the ace next,
because he can't do anything
about K-10-8 remaining in
the West hand.
At
imps, after East plays the 8 at trick one, declarer
should
next lead low toward the A-7-6, planning to
put
in the
6 if West follows low. At matchpoints, he
may play for
the overtrick by leading the jack, and
you'll defeat the game.
