the final of the Bermuda Bowl, three boards
from the
end, Paul
Soloway, East, chose to pass
5, leaving the decision to
partner, Bob
Hamman.
This turned out badly when Hamman bid 6,
doubled,
down two.
Soloway
commented afterward I guess I should
have doubled
5.
That's in retrospect. At the time
I thought my best action was to
pass the
decision
to Bob. I thought chances were good that we had
only one
loser in diamonds.
The
Americans won the match by one imp!
