CARD COMBOS #22
     North
    A 10 9 3 2

West

East

   South You
    K 4

You need four tricks in this suit. You cash the king, and
everyone follows small. You lead the 4 and West follows
small. Do you play the ace or the 9?

(A) ace

(B) 9

When you lead toward the ace, assume East has one
card left. The
queen, jack and a spot card are missing,
so East's remaining card is likely to be the queen or
the jack.

If the suit is 3-3,
it doesn't matter
which play you
make. And if East
has four of them,
it also doesn't
matter.
